I Got a Free Disney 'Mickey Go Malaysia' Coffee Cup from Grab

A Mugshot
Believe me, I was more excited than the title might lead you to believe. The reason is that I have, well had, been browsing for a mug for quite some time. I wanted to replace a smaller mug that I had been using for many years. The old mug is still perfectly fine. It is ceramic and heavy. I don’t remember how I got that mug, but it had been around in the family and for some reason simply became my mug many, many years ago. But, I thought it was time to upgrade to a bigger mug.

So, imagine my surprise and delight when I received a mug with my Grab Food order. It turns out that they were having a Malaysia Day promotion which I was not aware of.

The Mug

The mug is a part of Disney’s ‘Mickey Go Malaysia’ collection which comprises of a coffee mug or cup, a lunch bag and a tote bag.

The mug itself is a double-walled, thick plastic. I can comfortably hold the mug if it contains hot water; it will simply feel quite warm to the touch. As printed on the box, it can hold 350ml of liquid. Which, as alluded above, is bigger than my old mug, which incidentally, is why I call it a mug instead of a cup.

The Prints

The prints around it are really cute, depicting Mickey Mouse - face and hand - with local dishes and drinks. There are faces of Mickey with dishes such as nasi lemak, banana leaf rice, ketupat and char kuey teow; and Mickey’s hand/glove holding a coconut, roti jala and karipap, among others.

The Cover

Another Mugshot
I almost made a blunder with the cover. I wanted to prise it open with my nails and almost hurt myself when my mom just turned it around, and it was apparent to me that it was a screw-on.

The cover or cap has a push-up stopper which is guarding an oval opening that you can sip drinks through.

Another thing, if you’ve got one of these, - and I think this goes without saying - don’t forget to screw the cover on tightly to prevent any drinks from seeping out as I found out the hard way, or the wet way to be exact. If the cap is tight enough, and you tilt the mug long enough, you can see a tiny bit of water gathering at the edge and form an incomplete droplet, but not trickle down. I would imagine that if you keep it tilted for a really, really long time [I did not measure] I would assume the droplet will eventually drop out. So, I don't have to worry about that since I keep my mug fairly upright, and of course the cover fairly tight.

I’m a coffee drinker and I plan to use this for a long time. So far, I'm happy with it. I have my old mug at hand just in case.

Gosh, I can feel that I’m going to drink more coffee with this. Must. Resist.
